“The Main Event”

In mid April the City will begin a major construction project on Main Street between Water Street and Chestnut Street. Infrastructure improvements include replacing sanitary sewer, storm and water main connections, updated fire hydrants, laying of additional conduit (for speaker system, fiber optic line, security cameras, and/or wireless internet), improved street lighting, and new pavement (street surface, curb & gutters, sidewalks). Aesthetic improvements include historic streetlights, colored/stamped sidewalks and crosswalks, historic street signs, and other amenities. The projected completion date for the project is August 15.

Wedding Stories – the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!

On Wednesday, June 11, women came dressed in their wedding best to enjoy an evening party at the Rollo Jamison Museum: “Wedding Stories – The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly”. The evening featured a small showing of wedding dresses from the Museum’s collection, a presentation on wedding traditions by Angella Day, owner of Wishes & Dreams event planners, and an “open mic” wedding story session in which attendees shared their best, funniest, oddest, and happiest wedding stories.

Guests were also treated to musical entertainment by Ralph Kluseman, door prizes donated by several downtown merchants, and a yummy array of hors d’oeuvres, punch, and, of course, cake.

The event was sponsored by the Plattteville Main Street Program.
